
Professor Isobel Anderson is Chair in Housing Studies and Director of the Housing Policy and Practice Unit at the University of Stirling, where she has worked since 1994. She has broad-ranging research interests in housing, inequality and social exclusion with a particular focus on homelessness and health & well-being in the UK and international contexts. She is the founder and joint co-ordinator of the working group on Welfare Policy, Homelessness and Social Exclusion within the European Network for Housing Research. She was UK researcher for the European Observatory on Homelessness (convened by FEANTSA, the EU association of national homelessness agencies) during 2001-2006 and she remains as an advisor to the group. She was a member of the Scottish Governmnent’s Homelessness Monitoring Group during 2004-2006. Isobel is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is active in teaching on the MSc in Housing Studies and in designing Continuing Professional Development and Knowledge Exchange activities for housing and related professions.
Isobel has doctoral research supervision experience on areas such as the effectiveness of antisocial behaviour orders; communities and ethnicity; the factors influencing young people's transitions to independent living; and equal access to housing for people with physical impairments. She welcomes enquiries for doctoral studies on topics relating to housing, communities and well-being/quality of life.
