About

Billie is a full time research student in the Department of Applied Social Science. She is also a teaching assistant for SPC911 Social Differentiation and SPC912 Social Problems.

Billie has conducted research concerned with policy alterations and the ramifications of these for street based sex workers in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Her Ph.D working title is 'Women's experiences of their performance of sexualised labour in lap dancing venues in Scottish towns and cities' Of particular interest is what effects do 'striptease culture' - a term used to describe the increasingly obvious mainstreaming of sex and sexuality into popular culture - have upon women's work as erotic dancers.
