I am a registered social worker, having practised in Community Care and hospital-based settings in England and Scotland before settling in the field of children and families social work for the majority of my career. I have worked mainly in statutory settings within local authorities and I was laterly involved in integrated services through the New Community Schools agenda.
I studied for my Social Work Masters at Edinburgh University. I have always enjoyed teaching and I was a practice teacher for a number of years. I returned to University in a teaching capacity in 2003 when I joined the University of Dundee as a Teaching Fellow. At Dundee I directed undergrduate child protection CPD provision, including the Certificate in Child Care and Protection, untill I moved to the University of Stirling in 2008.
I am currently the programme director for the Graduate Certificate in Child Welfare and Protection.
