My teaching interests include social theory, qualitative methodologies and the sociology of the body. Current PhD supervision involves work on childhood, understandings of self and wellbeing and sexualisation. A member of the British Sociological Association, I am an Associate Director at the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships based at Edinburgh University and sit on the editorial board for the journal Sociology. My recent research has focused on trust and the nature of emotional lives and social change. I am research convenor for the Childhood, Families and Relationships Research Group within SASS.
