
Jim was a member of staff in the Department of Applied Social Science for over 30 years. Following his retirement in August 2005, Jim has continued to work closely with staff in the Department, conducting research in his areas of interest in marginality, storytelling, narrative arts and oral history. He coordinates the Neglected Narratives research group and is Chair of OurStory Scotland, an association that collects, archives and presents life stories of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in Scotland.
